Molinos de Viento was founded in 1981 with the aim of bringing Spanish language and culture to Amsterdam. The institute started with its Spanish founder, Pilar Guillen, and is now led by her son, Michael Kabela. What began as a small family business has grown into a leading center for Spanish language and culture in the city.

Over four decades, we have not only provided quality language lessons but also cultivated a warm and inviting environment. Our students appreciate the personalized approach and the loyal community we have built. Everyone is welcome to learn Spanish with us.

1980

A radiant day marks the birth of Molinos de Viento, the very first Spanish Cultural Center in the Netherlands.

Under the leadership of the visionary Pilar Guillén, a passionate educator, the center opens its doors as a vibrant hub for the Spanish-speaking community.

1982

The adventure begins! In small groups, with tapas and a glass of wine, the first students are welcomed.

In cozy settings, they learn the essence of the Spanish language while enjoying delightful flavors and a warm ambiance.

1986

Molinos de Viento moves from the basement by the Amstel to the magnificent 19th-century monumental building at Utrechtsedwarsstraat 13, where we are still located today.

¡Profesionalización total! Driven by the growing interest in Spanish lessons, we anchor our education on a solid didactic foundation.

We proudly present our dedicated team of teachers, led by the inspiring Lola Martínez Cabrera, our Academic Director from the very beginning.

1992

Thanks to landmark events in Spain, our student family steadily grows.

From the Olympic Games in Barcelona to the Expo in Seville, and Madrid as the Cultural Capital of Europe, Spanish language and culture are hotter than ever before!

1997

A new chapter begins when Michael Kabela, the son of founder Pilar, takes the helm.

Under his passionate leadership, we evolve to new heights with innovative ventures such as Room2Learn, Europass, and Molinos de Viento Business.

A special day: the Ambassador of Spain presents her with the Cruz de Oficial de la Orden del Mérito Civil, recognizing her invaluable contribution to promoting Spanish language and culture in the Netherlands.
